On their second commercial release, Loops continue on their self-ascribed mission to “redefine the nexus where improvisation meets composition”. While freestyle or improvised jazz is not always to everyone’s tastes, this record bridges that gap between traditional musical structures and spontaneous improvisation. These aren’t freeform jazz odysseys without form or direction, but highly-crafted songs which blend classical and jazz with elements of world music.
