Walisuma 'Alturas'

Traditional South American folk music comes alive in this debut from Walisuma.

Immerse yourself in the tranquil sounds of the Andes performed by master musicians from Peru and Bolivia.

Album Review 'Retiring Age' - John Rowe

John Rowe 'Retiring Age'

John Rowe’s sophomore release builds on the high quality songwriting and knack for storytelling established on his debut.

‘Retiring Age’ sees John take a more contemplative approach without losing that raw country edge that signifies his sound.

Listening to John Rowe is like taking a long drive with an old friend: it doesn’t matter where you’re going, as long as you’re travelling together.

‘Great Western Tears’ is John’s debut album, filled with the tales of hope, heroism and heartbreak that weave together the tapestry of our sunburnt country.

Combining sampled beats with live instrumentation and vocals, ‘Grand Theft Audio’ epitomised the burgeoning Brisbane hip hop scene and is considered a seminal record. For Resin Dogs core member and turntable maestro, DJ Katch aka Andrew Garvie the album conjures more mixed emotions.

“I don’t really look at it like that,” he says. “To me, going back and listening to that record gives us a bit of a cringe factor because of the way we recorded it.
